Aerodynamically speaking the Jet 9 Plus Disc Brake wheelset is unassailable. It's rim has won Tour de France time trials, World Championship time trials and countless Ironman championships. When aerodynamic performance is required, during high level competition, when going in to the red on the group ride or when chasing flat to rolling Strava segments the Jet 9 Plus is the wheel of choice.
A heady level of design specifications results in a very comprehensive weapon. Use it as a wheelset in calmer conditions for blistering pace… Use the rear wheel, paired with something like our Jet 6 Black front wheel to make a wheelset dialed for Kona or similar rolling courses… However you ride, when everything is on the line the Jet 9 Black is tethered while standing still, waiting to break records, hungry to devour the clock in your solitary moments of pain.
Performance is in the rim
Almost implausibly low rolling resistance is catered for with our, wider “Plus” aluminium tubeless-ready clincher rim format. This format uses a 25mm external & 21mm internal platform that widens the rim-to-tyre interface. This helps the tyre reside on the rim with a much superior cross sectional profile and further enhances tyre sidewall stability. This morphs the tyre-to-road contact patch into a shorter but wider impression resulting in lower rolling resistance and increased cornering grip. The improved tyre cross sectional profile then increases the internal tyre volume which in turn grants the possibility of much lower tyre pressures. This results in much improved comfort levels, even across rougher road surfaces, without an increase of dreaded rolling resistance.
Better braking, super stealthy look
This wheelset is completed with a stealthy look and increased braking performance afforded naturally via disc brakes. As already stated, the rim itself is a carbon/alloy hybrid with the alloy tyre bed bonded expertly on to the carbon aero "skin". The alloy section of this rim is anodised to give a seamless all black transition from carbon to alloy lending an "en vogue" sultry aesthetic.
The rims then spin around our "545" Disc Brake hub set. This hubset features ABEC 5 hi-grade stainless bearings to minimise friction to a minimum all the while offering a good level of longevity. Our "545" disc hubs come as stock with either 12mm or 15mm thru axles at the front and 12mm at the rear. We also have a conversion available separately for standard quick release skewers allowing complete compatibility with any disc brake bike. Shimano/SRAM and Campagnolo compatibility is then offered ensuring that any bike set up is catered for before a 5 pawl, 46 tooth freehub affords rapid, efficient drive engagement.
Efficient build, created for disc brakes
Stiffness and strength is integrated in to the wheelset with Sapim CX-Ray spokes, hand laced and trued. Both front and rear wheels utilise 24 spokes built in a 2-cross pattern. This pattern ensures maximum wheel stiffness and efficiency even during all out sprints or hard uphill efforts but also copes admirably with the extra forces generated on the hubs and spokes by the improved braking performance of disc brakes.
